Overall objectives

Contribute to the promotion of peace in the province of Maniema through educational projects based on the concepts of solidarity, non-violence, dialogue and understanding without discussion.

Past activities :

  • Identification of minors enrolled in armed groups
  • Identification of problems of proliferation and illicit trafficking in small arms
  • Awareness campaign on measures to reduce and eradicate the proliferation of weapons in the province of Maniema
  • Technical support to local actors working in the field of peace, justice and security

Current activities :

  • Awareness-raising among civil society actors on the mechanisms to be put in place to halt the proliferation of small arms
  • Contact with groups of demobilized soldiers supposed to still have their weapons with them for handing over to the competent authorities
  • Launch of the establishment of a data bank on small arms in Maniema
  • Contact with the state services (Migration, Police, Customs …) to reinforce the control of illicit trafficking in small arms

Projects :

  • Campaign to raise awareness among local actors and civilian populations on the fight against the proliferation of small arms
  • Organization of reflection days on the construction of peace and the circulation of small arms in Maniema
  • Organization of a workshop on reporting and monitoring on small arms and light weapons
  • Creation of small arms anti-proliferation observers clubs in the province of Maniema
  • Raising awareness of the drafting of a law on small arms in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the creation of a national network of national and international actors
  • Collaboration and exchange of information with the United Nations Mission in the DRC for the control of illicit arms trafficking in the Great Lakes region
