Te Chwinqlal (for life)” is a project to strengthen participatory planning and management capacities and improve basic services and governance concerning habitat, water, sanitation and hygiene, with a gender and inclusive approach, for 267 indigenous families, mostly composed of widow and single women of the Mam Cajolá Community, recently settled in the municipality of Champerico, in Guatemala.

Since 2022, the project focuses on the main deficit and violation of rights identified by the community, which is access to water and sanitation and its governance, taking into account the impact that this violation has on hygiene, health, productivity and food security. As part of this process, support has been provided for the provision of a safe water access point for the community, the construction of dry toilets, domestic gray water sanitation systems and the construction of a community water supply system to serve all households. The present project continues this work, completing the construction of the water supply network and strengthening water, sanitation and hygiene governance from a gender perspective.
